NDIS UPDATE: Pricing, Planning & Provider Changes Support Coordinators Should Know

There is a lot happening across the NDIS right now.

For Support Coordinators, keeping up with changes isn't simply about knowing what has changed today.

It's about understanding what may affect participants, supports, providers and service delivery tomorrow.

Here are several important developments worth having on your radar.

🔹 2027–28 Annual Pricing Review — Have Your Say

The NDIA has opened consultation for the 2027–28 Annual Pricing Review.

The review is considering pricing and pricing arrangements across areas including:

• Disability support worker-related supports
• Supported Independent Living
• Therapy
• Social and community participation
• Support Coordination

The NDIA is seeking feedback from participants, providers and the wider disability community, including practical experiences around quality, value, access, workforce, compliance costs and service delivery.

Consultation closes at 11:59pm AEDT on 1 November 2026.

For Support Coordinators, this is an opportunity to encourage participants and relevant providers to contribute their lived experience and practical insights where appropriate.

🔹 New Framework Planning

The transition towards new framework planning is also progressing, with the rollout scheduled to commence from 1 April 2027 following a delay to allow additional consultation and testing.

The new approach is intended to change how participant plans and budgets are developed, with greater focus on support needs, daily life and goals.

For Support Coordinators, staying informed will be important—not only to understand the changes, but to help participants navigate new information as it becomes available.

🔹 Claims: Don't Leave It Until the Last Minute

Providers should also be reviewing outstanding claims.

From 1 December 2026, a legislated 90-day claiming timeframe will apply, subject to exceptional circumstances. This makes timely claiming and accurate record keeping increasingly important for providers.

For Support Coordinators, good communication between participants, providers and plan managers can help reduce avoidable administrative issues.

🔹 SIL Providers — Audit Readiness

The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission is also continuing its regulatory reform program for Supported Independent Living.

New SIL Practice Standards apply from 1 July 2026, with requirements covering areas including participant-centred practice, supported decision-making, safeguarding, practice governance and agreements relating to tenancy, housing and support arrangements.

The Commission is also running webinars focused on SIL providers and audit readiness.

What does all this mean for Support Coordinators?

Perhaps the biggest takeaway is simple:

Stay informed. Ask questions. Keep participants at the centre.

As the NDIS continues to evolve, participants and families will increasingly rely on the professionals around them to help make complex information easier to understand.

That doesn't mean having every answer.

It means knowing where to find reliable information, identifying what may be relevant to a participant, and supporting people to make informed decisions about their own lives and supports.

At Bridges Alliance, we believe strong relationships between participants, families, Support Coordinators, providers and other professionals are an important part of navigating change.

The NDIS may continue to change.

Good communication should remain constant.

What NDIS change or consultation do you think Support Coordinators should be paying the closest attention to right now?
